Setting up CopyLeaks for Student Success

copyleaks logo

CopyLeaks is our new plagiarism detection software. CopyLeaks is replacing Turnitin and has comparable features.

Currently, students must agree to an End User License Agreement (EULA) before their submissions can be processed through the software. If the students do not agree, no report will be generated for their submission.

They only have to do this once but it is not a very clear process. We recommend setting up a no stakes or low stakes assignment early on in your course to make this successful for the student.

Set up the assignment

Set this up like any assignment. Add CopyLeaks which is under Evaluation & Feedback -> External Learning Tools

You can set this up with a small assignment you already have for your course or even provide them with a dummy PDF to upload to the assignment. The assignment doesn’t matter as much as having the opportunity for students to agree to the EULA in advance.

Add student directions

You can even add a student video to your assignment description showing students exactly how to agree to the EULA. This instructional video is available for all courses from Kaltura. If you have not used videos form our Kaltura Shared Video repository, check out our blog post about student help videos for more information.

The video is titled “CopyLeaks Student End User Agreement” and you can watch it below to understand the steps for students.
