Basic Student Help Videos for Your Course

Sometimes we play a little bit of the telephone game with instructional technology. An instructor asks “How can a student do X?” and they try their best to take the explanation back to their courses to help their students do X. Well now our basic student help videos will bridge a bit of that gap for student support and they can be easily embedded right into Brightspace courses.

What the Student Help videos can do

These student help videos are short videos for basic, generalized technology and instructional design topic support. That means they are geared toward things students are doing on Brightspace or for courses across campus.

The student help videos

  • can be embedded anywhere a Kaltura video embeds within Brightspace
  • are available to all instructors
  • are short and topic specific so you can choose videos only relevant to your course

What the student help videos can’t do

Although we built these videos to supplement courses and help students, they can’t do everything.

The student help videos do not

  • address specific workflows within your courses
  • speak to a specific discipline or department
  • provide all the tech support you need for a course

How can I add the student help videos to my courses?

You can embed the student help videos anywhere a Kaltura video can be added: Announcements, Content descriptions, Assignment descriptions, etc. The videos are in a shared repository on Brightspace and accessible to all instructors.

This video walks through how to add a student help video from the shared repository to an Announcement.
